The Counseling Process
I value each unique individual as worthy of unconditional acceptance which is the cornerstone of growth and healing. I appreciate differences and diversity as opportunities for people to learn from one another and build understanding and connection. I take a person-centered approach to the counseling process and believe each individual has within themselves an innate drive to reach their full potential. An environment of unconditional acceptance, empathy and positive regard opens the door for this potential to actualize. I view the counselors role is to provide this environment, utilizing a collaborative approach supportive of client healing and self-actualization.
I am skilled at adapting my counseling style to suit your needs as a client. I integrate a person-centered approach with elements of cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, existential therapy and logotherapy. I believe the client is the true expert on what they need and my role is to help facilitate the self-awareness which can direct their path to healing.
