The Counseling Process
As your therapist, you can expect Natalie to be compassionate and validating, while also firm and challenging. She is committed to diving in deep with you and doing the work needing to be done to meet your goals for counseling. Natalie spends several sessions getting to know you, including your strengths, gifts and resources, as well as protective patterns developed to keep you safe. Together, you will create a customized treatment plan honoring the importance of validation and challenge within the therapeutic process. Then the work begins! Natalie will help you identify internal and external patterns which have become imbalanced, help you heal and learn to love wounded parts of yourself and ultimately bring forward a more grounded, steady and confident self. Natalie utilizes Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), DBT, ACT, Attachment-Based Family Therapy. She also uses approaches and orientations from Gottman Couples Therapy and Psychobiological Approach to Couples Therapy (PACT).
Practice Areas
Natalie specializes in working with teens and young adults ages 14-25, families, parents and couples. Natalie also works with individual adults seeking EMDR counseling for trauma healing and treatment of PTSD, individuals struggling with attachment and relationship issues and those experiencing difficulties associated with mild to moderate anxiety and depression.
Professional Experience
Natalie has worked in the social services field since 2008 and as a trauma-focused therapist since 2016. She received her Master of Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Oregon State University Cascades. Natalie previously worked as a therapist in community mental health and at an inpatient psychiatric facility. Natalie has extensive experience utilizing trauma-processing and attachment-focused therapies with teens and families at an adolescent residential treatment program setting, where she worked as Clinical Director. Natalie has extensive training in treating complex childhood trauma. She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing and is a Clinical Supervisor.
