Loryn Cummins, LPC InternWelcome! I’m glad you’re considering working with me. I’m going to share a bit about myself and my approach, so you can get a sense as to whether I will be a good fit for you. My goal is for you to have choice in your life. In my work with clients I focus on reducing negative beliefs, strengthening relationships, increasing mindfulness, and incorporating life events. I enjoy working with children, adults, and families who are in transition or have experienced recent or ongoing life changing events.

The Counseling Process
I’m passionate about working with motivated clients who struggle with perfectionism, anxiety, and separating their own emotions and needs from those around them. I incorporate EMDR, expressive arts, play therapy, mindfulness, and somatic-based practices into sessions with clients.
I have chosen to be a counselor because I believe in the restorative process that can happen in relationship. In my own life I have found myself stuck in unhealthy relationship dynamics or emotions. Professionals and people in my personal life were able reflect to me other realities, give me a space to freely express myself, and continue to believe in my ability to grow. My goal is to offer this to others.
I am welcoming to all identities.

Children, Teens, & Young Adults
Because of my personable nature I easily build relationship with children, teens, and young adults. All work with kids is paired with parent coaching. As a Central Oregon Native and graduate of Sisters High School I know of the benefits and difficulties of leaving a small supportive community and how challenging it can be to establish a sense of self.
Education & Professional Experience
I have a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Oregon State University, and I am a registered Licensed Professional Counseling Intern with the Oregon Board of Licensed Professional Counselors & Therapists. Throughout my education and professional experiences I have focused on counseling, social justice, and outdoor education. I have spent significant time supporting children, adults, and families who have emotional and behavioral struggles and who are going through transition. Outside of individual counseling I’m competent in leading therapeutic groups and providing parent coaching. I have training specific to trauma interventions, crisis management, collaborative communication, behavioral problem solving, couples counseling, somatic processing, ecowellness, expressive art interventions, family systems, and EMDR.
Consultation
As a life-long resident of the Central Oregon community I’m invested in its wellbeing and creating a place where social and emotional health are supported. I’m available to parents, schools, community programming, and businesses as a resource on organizational leadership and creating systems that support wellness.
